Nancy S. Steinhardt

Nancy S. Steinhardt is Chair of the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, Professor of East Asian Art, and Curator of Chinese Art. She has broad research interests in cities and architecture of China and China’s border regions, particularly problems that result from interaction between China and peoples to the North, Northeast, and Northwest. She has done fieldwork in China, Korea, Japan, and Mongolia. Steinhardt is author, co-author, editor, or translator of 10 books and more than 100 scholarly articles or essays. She is currently writing The Borders of Chinese Architecture.
